GENERAL BUSINESS

Today we give a special mention and congratulations to John CANTLON of State Audit, who reached 500 runs in run 5.

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
I missed this run, doubly unfortunate, as the report is that “The weather was the best it has been so far this series, slightly cooler and it seemed a lot less humid.  That is why there was an explosion of point scoring!”

Westpac Trotters top scored with 191, followed by Macquarie Generals with 186 and Reserve Bank Magic Milers with 167. However, there was no change to the top 3 rankings.

GENERAL BUSINESS

It is imperative that all runners participate with their own pre-allocated chip. Although we acknowledge the efforts of the runner, evidence from STRAVA is not acceptable in the absence of the runner’s chip. To reiterate, no chip means no official time.

Additionally, there have been occurrences where runners have used another person’s chip or run with multiple chips for themselves and other participants. Running with another person’s chip will not give the runner any credit for a run, and risks recording an invalid run against a runner who did not run.  Running with more than one chip is expressly prohibited (by rule 7.1), and any instances discovered risk a 25 point penalty and possible expulsion of the team from the competition.  Don’t do it!

Congratulations to Luke Porter of Reserve Bank Midday Milers who reached the 300 run milestone with this run. A great achievement.

Ensuring your time is recorded

Some runners are missing out on an official timing for their run as their chip is out of range, in their pocket, when crossing the mat. This may work sometimes but can also fail sometimes. Attaching your chip to your shoelace is best for a good recording. The next best option is bending over with the chip in your hand when crossing the mat. In all cases ensure that you hear the beeps when starting and finishing.

Reminder for handling a faulty chip.

If you do not hear the beeps when crossing the mat or believe your chip is faulty, the correct process is to input the requested details on the FAULTY CHIPS sheet, located with the EARLY RUNNERS sheet on the shed to the left of the drinks table.

After completing the requested information, please leave the chip in the container located on the table near the sheet board. As the sheet says, “Failure to do so will result in your time not counting.”

GENERAL BUSINESS
Just reiterating reminders sent earlier this week.

Running on the road
The ONLY spot where running on the road is allowed is crossing the small side road immediately beyond the expressway bridge.  Running on the road anywhere else is expressly prohibited.  If you encounter congestion on the footpath, you must slow down and work your way past it, you must NOT detour onto the road to get round it.  This is a condition of our agreement with the RBG, and any breach potentially endangers the future of our event.

Danger spots on course
When returning around Mrs Macquarie’s Point there is a tree root which has slightly lifted the tarmac on the point and presents a trip hazard.  Mostly you will run past it without even noticing it, but we have had a number of reports over time of runners stumbling on it, in some cases leading to falls, so take care.

Also take care on the steps leading down from the middle path to Mrs Macquarie’s Point.  These steps have very uneven treads and depths, and a runner had a bad fall here last series.

SYDNEY CORPORATE CUP POINTSCORE TROPHY
Conditions were again warm and pleasant for the third run of the series. Another good day for running. We had a respectable turnout for run 3, although down on previous runs.  Six teams broke the 100-point mark, with another 4 in the high 90’s. The total points scored in run 3 was 2,717. The top 3 teams remain unchanged.
